Backlink Building Webinar

In this weeks webinar I showed you how to build quality backlinks to your website to help it rank better in the search results of Google, Yahoo and Bing.

You will see in the webinar that it’s easy to find websites that can give you free quality inbound links to your website.

To search for websites that you can build links from, you can use SEO Quake & Google.

SEO Quake is a plugin for FireFox that can be used when you do a Google search to obtain and investigate many SEO parameters (such as the PageRank and Yahoo Backlinks etc.) of the domains that are returned in the results. You can also use it to change the order of the results, which is very handy for being able to see which are the highest PageRank websites.

Many SEO experts say that 1 backlink on a relevant high PageRank website will far out-weigh many backlinks from websites with a low PageRank. There are even some reports that say 1 high quality, high PageRank backlink is equal to hundreds low quality backlinks! It’s also known that Google highly values .edu and .gov websites so if you can manage to get backlinks from these websites it will help greatly to get our website to the top of the search results.

Below is a query string that can be used in Google to find quality sites that are in your niche. You can change the .com to different domain extensions to help you find .org, .edu & .gov sites that you can post a comment on with a backlink to your website. Remember to make sure that the comment box has a URL field where you can put your website URL to get a backlink from their website to yours.

Use this query string in the Google search box:

“ADD YOUR KEYWORD” site:.com inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in”

What does the above query mean?

  • First, add your keyword/s in inverted commas
  • site:.com – searches for websites that are .com’s
  • inurl:blog – searches for websites that have “blog” in the URL (NB: You can also remove “inurl:blog” from the query if there aren’t many websites returned in the search results as not all websites are placed into a “blog” directory and have “blog” in the URL)
  • “post a comment” – searches for websites that have “post a comment” written somewhere on the website
  • -”comments closed” – the search will not include websites that have their comments closed and do not allow comments
  • -”you must be logged in” – the search will not include website that only allow comments to be posted if you are logged in

Once you have found and submitted comments with links back to your website, most of the time you will need to wait for them to be approved by the website owner. When the comment has been approved you are now ready to ping it. This will alert search engines that the webpage has changed and that they should come and crawl the website. When they come by the page they see there is a new link going to your website. If we don’t ping the comment it may take up to a month before they come by again. To ping your comment you can use the free service called Pingoat.

Now that you’ve seen how easy it is and that it doesn’t take that long to build backlinks, go and start out by building just 10 quality backlinks!
